Studio Rental Rates and Booking

Studio Noir is 1,700+ square feet of usable shooting space just west of downtown Colorado Springs, conveniently located near the I25 and Hwy 24 interchange.  It is available by the hour with a two hour minimum. The rate covers the studio space and nearly everything in it: the cyclorama cove, (a curved wall that sweeps into the floor so there’s no corner line behind your subject), plus backdrops, grip gear, furniture, the changing room, and a mobile makeup station. Lights are included too, upon request. If you are bringing lots of gear you can park right outside the door or back a vehicle up to our loading dock. If you need the room completely dark for video, let us know ahead of time and we will have the studio blacked out before you arrive.

• The cyclorama cove, 16 feet wide and 16 feet deep, walls 10 feet at the cove and 12 feet at the ceiling
• Backdrops and seamless paper in a range of colors.  Color availability is subject to change.  Please check with us to see what colors we have in stock.
• Grip gear, stands, and light modifiers
• Furniture and props
• Changing room
• Mobile makeup station
• Restroom
• Seating for clients, crew, and anyone waiting

Lights are included, upon request. Please tell us if you need strobes and/or constant lights and what modifiers you would prefer.  We will have them set up and ready to go when you arrive.   (We have triggers for Nikon, Canon and Sony). You can always bring your own lights as well.

Marley Dance Flooring

Marley is the roll-out dance floor. If you’re shooting dance or movement, you want it. Ask for it when you book.  Marley is a $95 add-on per session.

Standard Booking Hours

Standard booking hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week.

Need to shoot earlier or later? Ask. Outside hours are often available, and the rate does not change.  

Minimum booking is two hours.

Memberships

A limited number of memberships are available. A membership gives you a set block of studio hours each month, which you can lock to the same recurring time or schedule as you need them. Parking and Load-In

The building is built into the side of a hill, so both floors have their own ground-level entrance. The upper lot opens onto the first floor. The lower lot at the back opens onto the main studio and Cyc wall.

Parking is available right outside the door. Multiple spaces front and back, plus street parking.

Two ways in from the back lot:

• A back-in loading dock at about two feet high, which is trunk and tailgate height. Back your car up to it and slide gear straight out of the trunk and onto the studio floor. Nothing gets lifted.
• A roll-in door at ground level for anything on wheels.

Whether you’re in a sedan with two cases or a van with a full video kit and props, there’s a door that fits.

What People Shoot Here

Portraits and family sessions. The cove gives a clean, seamless background with no corner line behind your subject. Furniture and props are included if you want a set instead of a sweep.

Video. The studio blacks out completely, so you control every bit of light in the room. Constant lights are available, and the loading dock makes it easy to bring your own gear.

Headshots. Fast, repeatable, and lit however you like. Good for a single sitting or a day of staff photos.

Fashion and designer work. Full-length frames on the cove, changing room on site, makeup station ready.

Product and e-commerce. Controlled light, no daylight shifting your color between the first shot and the last.

Dance and movement. Add Marley flooring for $95 and the room is ready to go.

Mini sessions. Book a block, run clients through, use the included furniture to reset between setups.  Have an idea for a mini-session, let us know.

Boudoir. Private space with a dedicated changing room.  Windows can be covered by curtains.

Studio Rules

Cyc wall etiquette

• No street shoes on the cyc other than subject.
• Anyone on the cyc who isn’t a subject: socks or shoe covers (we have shoe covers available)
• Don’t step on or near the curves

In the building

• No smoking
• No Liquids on the Cyc
• No smoke machines
• No confetti
• No alcohol
• Outside catering is welcome

Space and people

• 8 people max without prior approval. Need more? Just ask ahead.
• Furniture and props are available
• Furniture stays in the building

How Booking Works

Four steps.

1. Send the form. Tell us the date, the hours you need, and what you’re shooting.
2. We confirm. We check availability and answer whatever you need answered before you commit.
3. We invoice you. Payment is made in advance.
4. Your time is locked in. Once the invoice is paid, the studio is yours for those hours.
